St. Agnes Academy
Daily Catholic prayers for students help young people grow in faith and live out Veritas each day at St. Agnes. Discover how prayer shapes student life!
At St. Agnes Academy, Veritas (Latin for "truth") is more than a motto. It is a way of life. Rooted in our Dominican heritage, Veritas calls us to seek truth in everything: our learning, our relationships, and our understanding of God and who we are called to be.
Daily prayer is one of the most powerful ways we nurture this pursuit of truth.
Catholic prayers for schools and students help center us, remind us of our identity, and keep our hearts open to God's guidance.
Whether we are beginning the day with all-school prayer, gathering in the community for the Rosary, attending all-school Mass, or closing a meeting with the Dominican Blessing, prayer is woven into the
rhythm of life at St. Agnes.
These moments anchor us, forming a spiritual foundation strengthening our commitment to live truthfully, love deeply, and serve joyfully. In that spirit, we've gathered some of our favorite daily Catholic prayers for students – prayers that reflect the heart of
our Dominican tradition and support our students as they strive to live out Veritas each day.
A Collection of Daily Catholic Prayers for Students
From the time you arise to the time you sleep, there’s an opportunity to pray.
Morning Offering
We begin each day placing our hearts and intentions before God. A prayer is read over the loudspeaker or on our weekly "Veritas Television" Segment. While the prayers change daily, the Morning Offering is a simple yet profound way for students to dedicate their entire day – every word, action, and thought – to Christ our Lord:
O Jesus, through the Immaculate Heart of Mary,
I offer You my prayers, works, joys, and sufferings of this day
for all the intentions of Your Sacred Heart,
in union with the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass throughout the world,
for the salvation of souls,
the reparation of sins,
the reunion of all Christians,
and in particular for the intentions of the Holy Father. Amen.
This prayer helps us begin with intentionality and purpose, aligning our daily choices with the greater call to love and serve.
The Dominican Blessing
One of the most beloved prayers in our community, the
Dominican Blessing, is often used at the end of our gatherings, meetings, and memorable moments:
May God Creator bless us.
May God Redeemer heal us.
And may God the Holy Spirit fill us with light.
May God give us eyes to see with,
ears to hear with,
and hands to do the work of God.
May God give us feet to walk
and a mouth to preach the word of God.
May the angel of peace watch over us and lead us at last by God's grace to the Kingdom. Amen.
This blessing embodies the Dominican mission of study, prayer, community, and service. It is not just a prayer – it's a commissioning to live with purpose and joy. Students remember this prayer for years to come.
Prayer to St. Catherine of Siena
St. Catherine of Siena, a Doctor of the Church and Dominican mystic, reminds us of the power of a heart fully alive in Christ:
Be who God meant you to be, and you will set the world on fire.
Her words guide us as we grow into our unique gifts. This short but powerful prayer inspired by her legacy invites us to surrender ourselves to God's plan:
O St. Catherine,
strong in faith and bold in truth,
pray for us as we seek to become who God created us to be.
Help us to speak with wisdom,
act with compassion,
and serve with joy. Amen.
The Rosary and the Angelus
As part of our Dominican charism, we honor Mary in a special way. Students are invited to pray the Rosary regularly, especially on Tuesdays during community time, as we reflect on the mysteries of Christ's life through the eyes of Holy Mary, Mother of Jesus Christ:
The Angel of the Lord declared unto Mary,
And she conceived of the Holy Spirit...
These Marian prayers invite students to slow down, reflect, and reconnect with the mystery of God's love.
Living Veritas through Prayer
Prayer shapes the way we live each day at St. Agnes. In classrooms, assemblies, before games, and during service opportunities, we pray to keep us grounded in Veritas. Our daily Catholic prayers remind us that we are not alone in our pursuit of truth; we walk with God, our community, and the saints who have gone before us.
May these prayers strengthen our students to think critically, speak truthfully, and love generously. Whether whispered in silence, shared in community, or spoken aloud in chapel, daily Catholic prayers for students continue to be vital to nurturing hearts and minds committed to Veritas.
