High school clubs at St. Agnes Academy are student-led, faculty-sponsored organizations that unite people with similar interests and work towards community involvement in a specific topic. For example, clubs on our campus organize school-wide events, charity drives, and bake sales.

The clubs range from American Sign Language to Community Service to Harry Potter. The wide variety of clubs allows students to foster their interests and passions while meeting other classmates with similar interests.

Reasons to Join St. Agnes Clubs

Joining a club promotes leadership and research skills among students and inspires initiative to create a more welcoming environment at St. Agnes. Club involvement varies – with some clubs meeting weekly and others meeting once or twice a semester. 

Most clubs focus on the St. Agnes community, but a select few clubs, like Mahjong Club, are collaborative with Strake Jesuit students.

Overall, clubs provide opportunities for students to have fun outside of the classroom and make meaningful friendships with students that have similar interests. Here are some other great reasons to join!

Clubs at St. Agnes offer opportunities for students looking for leadership positions. The important communication and leadership skills acquired from club membership are character and resume-building.

In fact, more than half of the students at St. Agnes hold a leadership position for a club that teaches important organizational and managerial skills, which are applicable in multiple fields and help prepare students for future career opportunities.

2. Path of Interest

Involvement in a club that aligns with a student’s interests can signify to colleges a specific path of interest that strengthens a student’s college applications. By showing purpose and interest, students learn more about hobbies and career opportunities. 

The abundance of available clubs allows students to explore different topics and fields that support their resumes and help them stand out on college applications.

4. Volunteer Service Opportunities

Many available clubs at St. Agnes, such as Key Club and National Honors Society Club, are volunteer clubs focused on serving the local community. These clubs connect students to service sites in the Great Houston Area and encourage service within St. Agnes students. 

Volunteer clubs are great opportunities to add a service-based aspect to a student’s college application and help upperclassmen work toward their 100-Hour Service requirement before graduation.

Academic and Career-Focused Clubs

Future Medical Professionals Club

This club focuses on educating students on the diverse opportunities within a healthcare career. Through speakers, service opportunities, and club meetings the club aims to inspire and excite students interested in healthcare about career opportunities in the workforce.

Marketing and Advertising Club

This club orients students around education about marketing and advertising as career opportunities through speaker and real-life application projects.

Business Entrepreneurship Club

The club exposes students to a career in business and collaborates with other business-focused clubs at Strake Jesuit. They aim to provide workshops and networking opportunities for interested students.

Sports and Athletic Based Clubs

International Soccer Appreciation Club

This club explores soccer and its presence in different countries around the world. Club members will analyze statistics and game plays together as a club for a better understanding of the game. The soccer history club aspect focuses on the development of the game and its timeline.

Niche Sports Club

This club aims to educate its members in less-known sports, like pickleball and croquet, and hold intramural competitions and tournaments for the students.

Creative and Arts Centered Clubs

Book Club

In the club’s meetings, they discuss all genres of literature and encourage a sense of curiosity within its members to promote a love of reading.

Calligraphy Club

This written language club encourages service and creativity through calligraphy by learning to write in cursive to decorate brown bags for Kids Meals Inc.

Photography Club

This club offers opportunities for students to foster interest and a love of photography. With a more laid-back, creative approach, the club encourages members to take advantage of workshops and photography displays to present their portfolios to other club members.
