St. Agnes Academy is proud to offer a variety of ways for students to express themselves artistically. Whether curating fine art pieces for the Art Expo, performing with Triple Trio, or starring in the Spring Musical, we boast many artistic opportunities for students to participate in.

Within each art form, students looking to get involved have many diverse options. One of our favorite options is St. Agnes Academy Dance. As we look ahead to International Dance Day on April 29th, we’d like to share some of the exciting aspects of our dance program.

Inside Our St. Agnes Academy Dance Program

Students can get involved in dance in various ways, like taking dance classes in their schedule or being a part of the Tiger Girls dance team. Here are some of our students’ favorite dance programming options.

1. Dance Classes

St. Agnes currently offers seven dance electives for students to take as part of their academic schedule. A sample of these classes include:
  • Introduction to Dance
  • Advanced Dance
  • Cultural Dance
  • Dance Composition & Choreography
The full list can be found in our Course Selection Guide. Dance classes can be taken to earn a 0.5 Fine Art or PE credit and are open to both St. Agnes and Strake Jesuit students. Taking dance classes at St. Agnes is a fun way to earn a Fine Art or PE credit while also learning more about the art in a class environment!

2. Tiger Girls – Dance Team

The Tiger Girls Dance Team is our official dance team led by head coach Kaylee Hoffner. The Tiger Girls Gameday team performs at St. Agnes pep rallies, Strake Jesuit and St. Agnes sporting events, and other school and community performance opportunities.

The Tiger Girls Competition team also competes in jazz and pom routines at various competitions at the state, regional, and national level. Their competition season concludes with UDA Nationals in Orlando, Florida.

In 2024, the Tiger Girls Competition Team brought home a 1st Place National Championship for their pom routine, and in 2025, they earned 2nd Place for their jazz routine. View @stagnestigergirls on social media for more information!

3. Dance Show

The St. Agnes Academy Spring Dance Concert is an opportunity for students to step out of their comfort zone, meet new people, and perform on stage. Students audition for the dance show in January, and auditions are open to all dancers across all skill levels.

This year’s Dance Concert, “Resonance,” will be on May 10, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. Presented by the St. Agnes Academy Dance Department and Director of Dance John Beasant, our annual dance concert is a great opportunity for students hoping to gain dance performance experience to get involved in.

4. Cultural Pageant

Cultural Pageant is a well-loved tradition at St. Agnes that is organized by the Diversity Club. Typically in the fall semester, the Cultural Pageant is a school-wide assembly where interested students can sign up to participate, share their cultural attire, and perform.

Students often sing, model, recite poetry, and of course, dance! Many Cultural Pageant performances consist of cultural dance performances, like crowd-favorite Bollywood and K-pop dance performances.

The Cultural Pageant is a great way for students to share their culture through dance and also get involved in the Diversity Club!
