Most high school students, especially St. Agnes students, have busy schedules with rigorous academics, after-school extracurriculars, and numerous clubs. There is always some event occurring during community time, and students fill their day with schoolwork and fun activities.

Even though each individual student will create their own routine with their specific interests, most students follow a similar schedule during the school day.

The student day in the life outlined below is not rigid, but always changing for each girl’s needs and requirements. Find out more about what a typical daily schedule looks like.

St. Agnes Student Day in the Life: What to Expect

From morning until night, St. Agnes students are deeply involved in school life. See how this breaks down throughout the day!

1. 7:00 AM

Some students will come to school early for sports practices – such as cross country and track and field – or for music practices, including orchestra and band rehearsals. Some teachers schedule make-up assignments before school, and on late-start mornings, there can be club meetings before the first period.

2. 8:00 AM

This is when school officially starts. Students attend their numerous classes both at St. Agnes Academy and over at Strake Jesuit for some upperclassmen classes.

3. 9:00 AM

This is when community time begins, which is a one-hour period the students enjoy every day. This period is usually filled with activities, such as club meetings, class meetings, tutorial meetings, quiz or test makeups, or a free period to complete work and talk with friends.

This time is when most students grab a snack from the dining hall and ask teachers questions about classwork.

4. 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM

The lower classmen have lunch at 11:00 AM in the cafeteria, and then the upperclassmen have lunch at 12:00 PM.

The alternating lunch schedules allow for a more comfortable and less crowded dining experience for the students. It also gives the incoming freshman the opportunity to meet more people in their grade and settle into a friend group that fits their personality.

5. 12:00 - 2:00 PM

Classes will continue throughout the day. Students will enjoy Academy Support, the scheduled study period to complete any work or study for an upcoming assessment.

6. 2:55 PM

At 2:55, all students are dismissed from class to either go home or head to practice. Some students stay in the library to finish up homework after school while the upperclassmen race to their cars in the parking lot.

This time is also used by students who have after-school practices to change into athletic clothing for their exercise.

7. 3:00 - 5:00 PM

All student-athletes with after-school practices or games will head to the athletic complex or wherever their sports practices are. Occasionally, there will be orchestra or band rehearsals after school as well. Most other students will start on their homework or study for a test the next day.

6. 5:00 PM - Beyond

All students will work on homework or study for assessments the next day. This is the time when some students will take a power nap before cramming for a big test or when some girls practice their driving skills.

St. Agnes teaches students good time management skills, and most girls have a scheduled study schedule for when they get home to complete their school work.
