Cultivating a Catholic Culture That Supports Your Daughter

St. Agnes Academy
Considering sending your child to Catholic school? You might have questions about the role Catholic culture plays in the educational experience. Learn how we support your daughter.
We often get questions from parents of all faith backgrounds about how the faith culture at St. Agnes Academy influences the academic, personal, and spiritual development of our students.

At St. Agnes, we believe that a God-centered, single-sex learning environment can play a major role in cultivating a healthy, safe academic culture for young women looking to advance their education while growing in their faith.

Let’s take a closer look at some of the ways our Catholic culture at St. Agnes is designed to help students grow and thrive in multiple aspects of their lives while on campus.

Catholic Culture in Education: What Does it Look Like?

Since its founding in 1905, St. Agnes has demonstrated a firm commitment to incorporating the principles of Catholic social teaching into everything we do. From our course curriculum to our extracurricular offerings, we place a heavy emphasis on our core values of truth (or veritas), justice, integrity, and joy.

Our Catholic foundation is evident in the following areas of our campus life.

Academics

Theology courses are integrated into our core academic curriculum so all students can develop the strong faith basis they need to effectively navigate their future studies, as well as their interpersonal relationships.

Students also have the opportunity to attend on-campus Mass every Thursday morning and may participate in Confession before or after Mass. The St. Agnes community also observes all Holy Days of Obligation, as well as Feasts that celebrate our Catholic, Dominican Heritage.

Extracurriculars

We offer several extracurricular opportunities for students who want to grow in their faith and expand upon their theological coursework.

1. Students participate in prayer retreats each year that correspond to key considerations of their theology courses. Each grade level follows a pillar of the Catholic, Dominican tradition, such as prayer, community, preaching, and study.

2. Some students may also opt to serve as Campus Ministers, which includes leading prayer each morning, serving at Mass, facilitating and participating in service projects, and facilitating celebrations of our Catholic, Dominican heritage throughout the year.

3. Some Campus Ministers may also choose to join our Dominican Preaching Team for their Junior and Senior years. During this time, they receive training as peer ministers and are expected to be servant leaders within the St. Agnes community.

Campus Culture

St. Agnes is dedicated to fostering the healthy development of students of all backgrounds and abilities. We offer a wide range of student support services to help students hone the skills they need to succeed during their high school years and beyond.

Our single-sex learning environment provides a space for young women to challenge themselves to grow personally and academically without having to juggle many of the distractions present in other educational settings.

Our average student-to-faculty ratio is 10 to 1, which gives our students ample opportunity to cultivate meaningful experiences through their instructors throughout the duration of their time at St. Agnes.
