St. Agnes Academy
Finding time for prayer can be a challenge in the busy days of our high school students. The average school day is jam-packed with classes, tests, homework, and extracurriculars. It can be hard to find moments for reflection and time to reconnect with God.
Let’s dive into the
importance of prayer. We will share examples of Catholic prayers for high school students to find comfort in their daily routines.
Catholic Prayers for High School Students: The Value of Prayer
Prayer is one of the
four essential pillars that defines St. Agnes. As Dominicans, we work to imbue our lives with the wisdom of God and encourage our students to find the space to do so. We come together for Mass, observe Catholic holy days, and host Mass in chapel weekly.
Prayer, too, continues to be an essential part of our students’ journeys at our Catholic school. As students find their way through their education, relationships, and self-discovery, they may find comfort through prayer.
5 Prayers to Find Comfort at St. Agnes
Here are five Catholic prayers for high school students to find comfort and inspire their journeys at St. Agnes!
1. The Dominican Blessing
May the Creator bless us.
May the Redeemer heal us.
May the Holy Spirit enlighten us
and give us eyes to see,
ears to hear,
and hands to do the work of God,
feet to walk the path of justice,
and mouths to preach the good news.
May the angel of peace watch over us and lead us at last to the reign of God. Amen.
2. A Prayer for Nerves - The Prayer of St. Teresa of Avila
Let nothing disturb you,
Let nothing frighten you,
All things are passing: God never changes.
Patience obtains all things.
Whoever has God lacks nothing; God alone suffices.
3. Prayer for Knowledge and Wisdom
Heavenly Father,
Fill my mind with knowledge and wisdom. Help me to be curious and diligent in my studies. Help me learn with an open heart, eager to learn and grow. Give me the strength and resilience to persevere. Help me to embrace mistakes and learn patience and humility.
Instill in me a sense of responsibility to use my knowledge wisely. May I be a vessel of Your love and truth, sharing what I learn with compassion and integrity. Let my education shape my future and inspire those around me.
May Your light shine through me as I pursue knowledge and wisdom. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.
4. Our Father
Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name;
thy kingdom come;
thy will be done;
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation;
but deliver us from the evil one.
For thine is the kingdom,
the power and the glory,
for ever and ever. Amen.
5. Prayer for Peace
Dear Lord,
In moments of stress and uncertainty, I turn to You for peace. Help me to remain calm and centered. Grant me the ability to focus on my studies, free from distractions and worries. May I find strength in knowing that I am doing my best and that You are guiding me every step of the way. Help me to view challenges as opportunities for growth and to approach each task humbly.
When I feel overwhelmed, let Your love surround me, providing comfort and reassurance. Help me to embrace the present moment, knowing that You are with me in my endeavors.
I place my trust in You, confident that with Your help, I can face any challenge with grace and serenity. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.
